These are the two most dazzling picture books I read over the holidays.
Beach Lane Books does it again with Stars (Mary Lyn Ray and Marla Frazee), which is about the kind in the sky but also other kinds. It is full of wonder.
Take these lines:
“You can give a star to a friend. But never give away the one in your pocket. You need to know it is there.”
And Waiting for Winter (Sebastian Meschenmoser), recommended by a friend with young kids, is exquisite. So beautifully illustrated, seemingly quiet, and then, surprise! It’s also boisterously funny.
